Monitoring stack

The monitoring stack is a key feature of the OnGuard Controller Dashboard. It provides a real-time log of every signal received from your devices, such as patrol completions, alerts, and device statuses. This tool ensures efficient monitoring by allowing users to track activities, identify critical issues, and manage device performance effectively.

1. Locate the Monitoring Stack

  • Open the OnGuard Controller Dashboard.
  • Find the monitoring stack section, which displays all incoming signals from your devices.

2. Understand the Data in the Monitoring Stack

Each row provides detailed information about a signal:

  • Date Received: When the server received the signal.
  • Device Time: The time recorded on the device when the event occurred.
  • Time Difference: The delay between the device time and server time.
  • Site Name: The associated site of the device.
  • Device Name and Type: Identifies the device and its model (e.g., OG-66).
  • Battery Status: The battery percentage of the device.
  • Volume: The current volume setting of the device.
  • Controller: Whether a controller is managing the device.
  • Signal Message: The type of signal sent (e.g., patrol complete or alert).

3. Monitor Signals in Real-Time

  • Watch the stack for live updates on activities like patrol completions, point scans, and device restarts.
  • Use this view for proactive tracking of all device signals.

4. Focus on Critical Alerts Only

  • Toggle the “Alert Signals Only” tab to display only urgent messages.
  • This view filters out routine signals and shows critical alerts requiring immediate attention.

5. Filter by Site

  • Use the “Show All Sites” dropdown at the top to refine your view:
    • Default: View all sites in the stack.
    • Filter: Select a specific site to monitor signals from that location.
    • Critical Alerts Exception: Critical alerts from other sites will still appear at the top.

6. Check Device Performance

  • Look for key metrics like:
    • Battery Status: Ensure devices have sufficient power.
    • Efficiency Ratings: Confirm patrols are 100% efficient.
    • Alerts: Address any flagged issues immediately.

7. Troubleshoot Specific Issues

  • If you encounter syncing issues, compare the Device Time and Date Received columns for discrepancies.
  • Use site filters to isolate and resolve specific device problems.
